Medical acupuncture certification. At least 100 hours of supervised experience acceptable to the department and under the supervision of a currently registered physician or dentist certified in acupuncture. The office of continuing medical education at the state university of new york suny downstate medical center is offering a 300 hours educational program which qualifies the participant for new york state acupuncture certification.

The aama was founded in 1987 by a group of physicians who represented both east asian and euro american styles of acupuncture most of whom were graduates of the medical acupuncture for physicians training programs sponsored by university extension ucla school of medicine.
